Why do we say time flies?

Why do we say time flies? I once saw a clock running so fast it left a trail of dust behind it, but when I asked it why it was in such a hurry, it just shrugged and said, “I’m just trying to catch up with life’s demands!” Meanwhile, I know a snail who’s been trying to race against time for years, but every time it gets close, time just speeds up even more. The snail, feeling defeated, told me, “I guess I’ll stick to leaving a trail of slime instead of trying to race against something invisible.”

I once read that the average person walks about 7,500 steps a day. That’s nothing compared to my friend’s imagination, which takes leaps and bounds every time he tries to make sense of his life. He told me, “Every step I take in reality feels like I’m trying to walk on water, but in my mind, I’m sprinting across continents.” I guess it’s true what they say, reality has its limits but the mind? The mind can take you places your feet never could.

Have you ever noticed how some people treat their smartphones like they’re part of the family? I saw a guy the other day who was so attached to his phone, I thought he was going to introduce it to his relatives at a family gathering. He even said to me, “This phone is like my child – it needs constant attention and if I don’t give it what it wants, it throws a tantrum and freezes on me!” I wonder if they make baby carriers for phones now, or if they’ll start calling phone cases “diapers” soon.
